The German Bundestag and Bundesrat are expected to debate them shortly. For this reason, the coalition of tourism associations—ASR, BTW, DEHOGA, DRV, DTV, IHA, RDA, and VIR—issued a critical statement regarding the revision of the Infection Protection Act and made an urgent appeal to policymakers. The associations also received support from the Tourism Diversity Action Alliance, which includes an additional 28 industry associations from the tourism sector. The primary objective was the removal of the measures addressed in the letter, which would once again significantly impact and restrict tourism.

In particular, the letter highlights the significant bureaucratic burden on businesses and warns of the consequences of deviating from a uniform European regulation.
